Philanthropist to open ACU music research room
This afternoon, Lady Primrose Potter AC will attend Melbourne's Victoria Parade Australian Catholic University campus to open a room that will house research music collections including manuscripts and printed music.
The Richard Divall Research Room will house the Percy Jones Australian Church Music Collection as well as other research music collections and is located within the library of the Melbourne Campus.
"This important resource will further enhance the facilities available and the teaching of music on the Melbourne Campus," said University vice-chancellor Professor Peter Sheehan.
"I am delighted to welcome Lady Potter, a leader of life and culture in Australia, to launch this facility," he continued.
The University previously acknowledged distinguished music scholar Richard Divall with an Honorary Doctorate in April this year for his outstanding service to the performing arts over a long and distinguished career, bringing music and opera to the community.
Lady Potter is a Life Governor of the Ian Potter Foundation. In 2003 she was given the highest honour of Companion of the Order, for leadership and for encouragement of support for critical community growth through fundraising and philanthropy in arts, science, education and social welfare.
ACU National's Melbourne Campus offers a Certificate and Diploma in Church Music, Bachelor of Music and Master of Music (Research).
The Richard Divall Research Room will be open to the public by appointment. Today's opening takes place at 5:00 pm at 115 Victoria Parade, Fitzroy.
