ACU to establish Chair of Ageing
The Australian Catholic University and the RSL Veterans' Retirement Villages will today sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOA) to jointly establish a Chair and Professorship of Ageing (Veterans and Community).
"The MOU provides a unique opportunity to foster leading edge research in aged care, and in particular, retirement and aged care nursing within the Veteran community," said ACU National Vice-Chancellor, Professor Peter Sheehan AO (pictured).
"RSL Veterans' Retirement Villages has a distinguished record of serving the veteran community and is well placed to provide leadership in the local, regional and national contexts in regard to ageing, retirement, and community nursing," he said.
"Australian Catholic University is one of the leading universities in Australia in the field of nursing. We have built our reputation on a 150 year old tradition of educating nurses. The University is strategically and uniquely positioned to focus on the fundamental issues of concern in the areas of health care, in particular in aged care with a focus on community and veteran care," said Professor Sheehan.
The MOA will be signed this afternoon at the ACU's North Sydney Vice-Chancellery.
