National Catholic Family Gathering launched in Wagga
The Living the Dream National Catholic Family Gathering, to be held in Sydney in April is gathering momentum, with more than 200 people attending a Mass to launch the event in the Wagga Wagga diocese.
Bishop Gerard Hanna (pictured left) celebrated Mass, which featured special prayers of intercession for families and a blessing for families at the conclusion.
Mass was followed by the diocesan launch of the National Catholic Family Gathering, which will be held in Sydney at St Joseph's College, Hunters Hill from 16 to 18 April.
The Gathering, entitled, Living the Dream, follows on from the first National Catholic Family Gathering held in Melbourne three years ago, called Dare to Dream. Bishop Hanna urged families from the Wagga diocese to get involved.
"This is a wonderful initiative of the Bishops' Committee for the Family and for Life which reinforces the importance of the family in our society and in the life of the Church," Bishop Hanna said.
Also at the Wagga launch were Barbara and Malcolm Mackenzie (pictured right) of the Tumbarumba Parish who shared their experiences of the second World Meeting of Families in Rio de Janeiro in 1997 and the first National Catholic Family Gathering, "Family: Dare to Dream" in Melbourne in April 2000.
"Everything about Dare to Dream was positive, enlightening, reassuring and encouraging of our Catholic faith," Barbara said.
