Abuse: US Diocese names 15 priests; Vatican disciplines 2 others

In separate reports, one California Diocese has named 15 priests who have been guilty of abuse and the Vatican has disciplined two others.

Associated Press reports that Orange Country Diocese publicly named 15 priests in the diocese who have been accused of sexually abusing children. A 16th priest, who is deceased, was not named, which the church said was at the victim's request.

Of the 15 identified Saturday, 11 had previously been identified in news articles about sexual misconduct by priests. Four others - Franklin Buckman, Santino Casamino, Robert Foley and Edgardo Arrunataegui - were identified for the first time, according to the Orange County Register.

In another Associated Press story carried locally in The Australian, the Vatican has upheld the US suspension of a Michigan priest and has defrocked a second priest, both of whom were accused of sexually abusing minors, the Archdiocese of Detroit said today.
