Catholic schools fees to rise
Almost 150 Catholic schools run by the Sydney archdiocese will be hit with a 9 per cent fee rise, while Parramatta diocesan school fees will rise by 5.5 per cent. The Sydney archdiocese executive director of schools, Brother Kelvin Canavan, acknowledged the fee increase "will place even more financial pressure on families that are, in many cases, already struggling to get by".
The information is carried in an article in the Sydney Morning Herald discussing the political outcry that has broken out over Federal Government funding for non-government schools.
