Mystery of Sydney Cathedral window solved
The Catholic Weekly this week reports a Sydney researcher has solved a 138-year-old mystery surrounding the first stained-glass window in St Mary's Cathedral. The centre of the three-panelled window, a poignant memorial to the wreck of the Dunbar, went missing after it was moved following a fire which destroyed the old cathedral in 1865.
The heroine in this story is Robin Hedditch who solved the mystery as part of her studies for a Masters Degreee at Sydney University.
The newspaper has devoted a lot of space to the story with the main article on the front page as well as a background piece, The stained-glass detective, focusing on the work of Ms Hedditch. Our links take you to both stories.
