Victorian Catholics push for funding
More than 150,000 Victorian Catholic school students have taken home a brochure explaining why they get a raw deal.
The Herald-Sun reports that the brochure drop is a major step in a campaign by the Catholic Education Commission Victoria to gain more State Government funding.
CECV executive director Susan Pascoe said the average Catholic school in Victoria received about $1090 in state government funding a student compared to an average $1413 received by their New South Wales counterparts.
The CECV brochure drop is expected to cost up to $15,000.
A spokeswoman for Education Minister Lynne Kosky said the Bracks Government had already allocated $130 million in extra funding to non-government schools since coming into office.
