Awards aim to expose Catholic welfare employee excellence
Catholic Welfare Australia is looking for nominations for its 2003 Awards that aim to uncover excellence and innovation within the sector.
"Recent research indicates that there are over 8,000 people employed within the Catholic Social Welfare sector and these awards provide an ideal opportunity for Member Organisations to showcase their best employees, programs and overall service," said spokesman Fr Joe Caddy.
There will be three Awards on offer. Two will be for Member Organisations only - the Award for Excellence in Service (Organisational) and the Award for Most Innovative Program which has been given the new name The Norma Parker Award. This name has been chosen after one of the four women social workers who were the pioneers of Catholic welfare in Australia.
The third Award, the Award for Excellence in Service (Individual) - The Perkins Award is open to ALL workers within the social welfare sector.
Fr Caddy said: "We are also pleased to be able to extend the Perkins Award outside of our Membership network."
This is the second year that the Catholic Church Insurances-sponsored Awards are being held. Applications close on 19 September, and three finalists in each category will be announced on 26 September.
