Pope offers portrait of ideal political leader
The perfect politician is a person of "perfect moral integrity" always ready "to struggle against every form of evil and injustice", according to Pope John Paul II.
The Pope was giving his weekly catechesis at yesterday's General Audience at the Vatican.
The ideal political leader is always ready "to struggle against every form of evil and injustice." His leadership, the Holy Father says, is then a "labor of love" in service to his people and to God.
The Pope added that this leader also shows his determination to root out corruption in government, the Pope added.
He was speaking to a crowd of about 20,000 people in St. Peter's Square.
