Mongolian Catholic Church enjoys 25% growth after Easter baptisms
The number of Catholics in Mongolia increased by a quarter to 177 after 40 people were baptised on Easter Sunday in the three parishes in the capital Ulaanbaatar.
Maralhuu, a catechist of Our Lady of Assumption Parish, said that two nights of vigil prayers were held at her parish in preparation for the Baptism of 29 people - 23 Mongolians and six Koreans.
Three of these new Church members are babies, 16 are children and 10 adults. The youngest is just 4 months old, Maralhuu said, pointing out that young people among the first Catholics in the country are now starting families.
The program for people preparing for Baptism at the parish is called the School of Charity. Following the recent Baptisms, it still has more than 50 catechumens.
