Pell biography launched in UK

A packed committee room at the House of Commons reportedly heard a "ringing defence" of Archbishop George Pell last week when author Tess Livingstone launched the British publication of her biographer biography of the Archbishop of Sydney.

The launch was the focus of a meeting of The Keys, the Catholic Writers' Guild of England and Wales, the group founded by GK Chesterton in the 1930s, which brings together Catholic writers, journalists, and people working in every branch of the media.

The House of Commons meeting was chaired by Ann Widdecombe, the Conservative MP and former shadow home secretary who converted to the Roman Catholic faith. Widdecombe is "Master of The Keys".

The reporter from Independent Catholic News said Dr Pell "has been tipped as a possible future Pope, has turned around the Church in the diocese of both Melbourne, where he was Archbishop for four years, and now Sydney".

The Pell biography, titled George Pell, is published in the UK by Gracewing.
