Dutch Church sending Lent mobile phone text messages

The Catholic church in the Netherlands has launched a special SMS (mobile phone text messaging) service to facilitate spiritual preparation for Easter.

Users of mobile phones will receive a Gospel verse on their phones every day at around midday local time for the duration of Lent.

The special SMS service costs $A1.25 per message. 50% of this amount will be directed to a Catholic aid and development organisation to support projects in developing countries.
