Catholic Enquiry Centre moves to inner city

The Sydney-based national Catholic Enquiry Centre has been "reborn" in what its director calls a "vibrant" location in inner-city Surry Hills.

Director Fr Paul O'Donnell said the move, after 40 years in suburban Maroubra, would provide "a new heart and hearth" for the Centre and its work.

"We hope it will provide people with a sense of feeling at home," he said. "There will be space for workshopping, particularly with our connections with the RCIA and for those involved with evangelisation and faith outreach in its local and wider aspects."

The CEC is an initiative of the Australian Catholic Bishops' Conference and was founded in 1959 for the better knowledge of Christ and the Catholic Church in Australia.

It is committed to its mission of evangelisation, specifically in helping Catholics seeking a return to faith practice. It offers clear information about the Catholic faith for those who are searching for faith, and for people of other religious backgrounds. The CEC also aims to promote inter-religious understanding.

Bishop William Morris of Toowoomba, chairman of the Bishops' Committee for Evangelisation and Mission, will celebrate a Mass on Sunday 30 March in the adjacent St Francis de Sales Church at 84 Albion Street, Surry Hills.
