Papal condolences to families of Vietnam inferno victims
Pope John Paul II has sent a message expressing condolences to the families of victims of a recent fire in Ho Chi Minh City that left at least 60 people dead and another 100 injured.
The papal message was read at all churches in the city on Saturday, All Souls Day, three days after Ho Chi Minh City's worst fire in decades.
The fire erupted in a dance club on the third floor of the six-story Saigon International Trade Centre in the downtown area of the city.
Archbishop Leonardo Sandri signed the message, which was sent to Archbishop Jean Baptiste Pham Minh Man of Ho Chi Minh City.
