Death of Perth auxiliary bishop
Perth's Archbishop Barry Hickey has advised of the death of retired Auxiliary Bishop of Perth, Bishop Robert Healy.
Bishop Healy died peacefully in his sleep on Monday morning at the age of 77. His housekeeper alerted the Archbishop shortly after 9:30am, where he was on the tennis court at nearby Aquinas College.
Bishop Healy was born in County Kilkenny, the eldest of seven children. He sailed for Western Australia in 1950, the year following his ordination. He was Auxiliary Bishop from 1975 until his retirement in 2000. He was the Vicar for Education and Chairman of the Catholic Education Commission.
Bishop Healy will lie in state in St Mary's Cathedral for an hour before Saturday's 9:30 am funeral service.
