Retired Qld priest appears in court on 35 child sex charges
A 66-year-old retired Queensland priest has appeared in the Brisbane magistrates court on 35 child sex charges.
It is alleged the offences took place in the 1970s and 1980s.
The priest, who now lives in Brisbane, allegedly committed the offences against six boys and girls in Longreach, Bundaberg, Monto and Mackay. He has been granted bail to reappear next month.
The Courier Mail reports that the court was told he had disguised his voice in a telephone conversation with police to evade capture this week.
The offences allegedly took place in Mackay, Bundaberg, Longreach and Monto between 1973 and 1987.
Six people made complaints to police about their alleged abuse at the hands of the man, including a woman who claimed she was indecently dealt with in the church presbytery of a Queensland town during the 1970s.
