Catholic board members receive Queen's Birthday honours
A number of members of boards of Catholic organisations are prominent in the list of Catholic recipients of Order of Australia honours published on Monday.
They include WA businessman Tony Howarth (pictured), who has been a member of the Archdiocese of Perth's Finance Advisory Committee and Chair of the Catholic Development Fund, and Barry O'Callaghan of Melbourne, who was on the Board of Directors Catholic Homes for the Elderly. Together with Perth benefactor and founding governor and trustee of Notre Dame University Bill Hughes, they were made Officers in the General Division of the Order of Australia (AO).
Catholic made Members of the General Division of the Order of Australia (AM) include Sr Patricia Bundock, who has worked with homeless and alcoholic men and women in western Sydney, as well as Caritas Australia Sydney Archdiocesan Director Mrs Patricia Burke. Sr Frances Caine, who has worked with the Aboriginal Hearing Health Program in the NT, and retired Maronite Bishop Youssef Hitti and also on the list.
