Pope names new bishop for Melbourne
Pope John Paul II on Friday night named Melbourne priest Fr Mark Coleridge as the Archdiocese's new auxiliary bishop.
Monsignor Coleridge, 53, is a scripture scholar who has worked in the secretariat of state at Rome's Vatican City for almost four years.
Melbourne Catholic Archdiocese spokeswoman Geraldine Capp said Fr Coleridge, who was ordained in 1974, was an "excellent choice".
