Oceania Bishops to meet in PNG next week
Nearly 80 bishops will gather in Rabaul, Papua New Guinea, in the next week for the Federation of Bishops Conferences of Oceania assembly, which is held every four years.
The Catholic Leader reports that the focus of the meeting from Tuesday to Friday will be Ecclesia in Oceania, Pope John Paul's Response to the Oceania Synod in 1998.
Secretary-general of the Synod of Bishops Cardinal Jan Schotte will travel from Rome for the assembly.
Bishops from Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea and the Solomon Islands and Oceania will consider topics including communal reconciliation in the context of the Sunday Eucharist and pastoral care of the family.
