Ratzinger says pope "still has energy for important tasks"
Pope John Paul "speaks less than he did, but he asks very precise questions", Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger has told the German newspaper Die Welt.
The prefect of the Vatican's Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith said that while the pope may at times take on a heavy load, he remains in full control.
Ratzinger said the pope remembers names better than he does.
The two-part interview was published Easter weekend, as some media speculated that Pope John Paul's deteriorating health was causing him to lose control over some Vatican decision-making.
