Pakistan bishop says culture incites violence more than religion
Culture has a greater role in inciting national violence than does religion, according to Bishop Anthony Lobo of Islamabad-Rawalpindi, Pakistan.
"You may have the same religion in Pakistan, in Saudi Arabia, in Morocco, in Tunisia, in Indonesia," said Bishop Lobo, naming nations with overwhelmingly Muslim majorities.
"But the Islam of Jordan is not the Islam of Pakistan, or of Morocco, or of Tunisia," Bishop Lobo said.
He made his comments earlier this week during a Washington DC Catholic Social Ministry panel discussion on whether religions incite violence.
