Polish President hoping for August visit by John Paul II
During his visit to the Vatican from tomorrow, the president of Poland will invite John Paul II to visit his homeland this summer.
"We will invite the Pope for the month of August and from my vantage point, the visit will take place in August," President Aleksander Kwasniewski said in statements over Poland's public radio station.
Fr Adam Schulz, spokesman of the Polish bishops' conference, confirmed Wednesday the official invitation that Cardinal Jozef Glemp, the primate of Poland, presented to John Paul II.
The Holy Father's last (and seventh) visit to his country was in 1999. K
