Fr Frank Brennan lashes government on detention
Jesuit Priest and lawyer, Fr Frank Brennan says the blanket detention policy and Pacific solution are "morally reprehensible" and impractical. The Age newspaper this morning carries a report of his address to members of the legal profession in St Paul's Cathedral, Melbourne at the start of Legal Week.
"It will not be long before protected detention of children in the heated isolation of Woomera will be seen to be a moral obscenity. Members of our profession must be heard in the public forum when political conflicts relate to the liberty, dignity and rights of the person against the power of the state." Fr Brennan said.
