Mass attendance back to normal
The crowds that flocked to masses and paraliturgies across Australia following the 11 September terrorist attack on America have dwindled.
The Catholic Leader surveyed Australian cathedrals and found that congregations at most masses are back to pre-attack levels.
In Brisbane, St Stephen's Cathedral administrator Fr Peter Dillon said that at the same time people were shocked by events and wanted to get back in touch with God.
"I think they have a great air of apprehension and have been more sensitised to spiritiual issues," he said.
In Sydney, St Mary's Cathedral administrator Msgr Tony Doherty said there had been many more worshippers at the time of the attack, but these numbers had fallen.
