Catholic college professor sees moral vision in Harry Potter books
Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling "has created a very moral vision," says Robert M. Otten of Marymount University in Arlington, Virginia, where he teaches courses on classic children's literature.
The books are about "the fundamental battle between good and evil," Otten told Catholic News Service about the writings of J.K. Rowling.
He made the comments in light of the release of the new movie based on Rowling's book, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, and questions raised by some over the appropriateness of witchcraft and sorcery as subjects for children.
