Archbishop orders probe into witchcraft claims
Brisbane's Archbishop John Bathersby has asked the archdiocese's vicar for religious to investigate allegations that nuns are involved with a centre offering pagan and new age feminist rituals.
The Catholic Leader reports that Brisbane's Courier-Mail newspaper alleged on Saturday that the Presentation Sisters' Womenspace conducts or advertises a range of new age, witchcraft and lesbian activities.
Archbishop Bathersby said he would carefully consider the results of the investigation of his vicar for religious, Sr Patricia Scully.
He said: "I reiterate my belief in the splendid work religious sisters have done for the archdiocese in the past and the present. Their faith and generosity are beyond question."
