Perth Archbishop announces Communications shakeup
Archbishop Barry Hickey has announced a significant revamp of communications for the Archdiocese of Perth in the current edition of The Record newspaper:
He revealed that The Record would become part of a broader Diocesan Communications Office of which the paper would be a vital part. He said the office would handle a range of communications on behalf of the Archbishop, and develop more efficient networking communications within the Church's own structures.
Mr Hugh Ryan, a lecturer in communications and a former speechwriter and media officer for state politicians, has already been employed to help with this task.
The Record itself would continue on a weekly basis, with a special free publication, monthly if possible, intended to reach a wider audience than The Record does at present.
In setting up a Communications Office a new editor of The Record is being sought who would--take on much of the innovative work to be done. Current editor David Kehoe concludes his term as Editor next month.
