Vatican police use priestly disguise to improve security
Police officers guarding the Vatican are disguising themselves as priests, according to a report from the British Ananova news organisation.
It says the police are using the disguises after a pilot security scheme was successful.
Reports also say German and French secret service agents are dressing up as pilgrims to provide extra security.
But the Roman newspaper Il Messaggero says plans to install anti-aircraft defences on Giancicolo hill above the Vatican have been dropped.
The World synod involving the Pope and 280 bishops, archbishops and cardinals will continue until 27 October.
