Catholic Health reacts to 'phantom' aged care strategy
The body representing the Catholic health and aged care sector has sharply criticised Federal Aged Care Minister Bronwyn Bishop for concealing from the public the contents of the Government's Aged Care strategy.
Catholic Health Australia issued a statement indicating that it is "astounded" that Ms Bishop did not make available the Strategy for an Ageing Australia at the release of the document in Melbourne yesterday.
The statement said: "Apart from a few broad comments by the Minister, the contents of the Strategy remain largely unknown."
"Regardless of the Minister's decision to deny the public access to the report, what has to be realised by the Government is that any strategy for the provision of quality aged care must commit more funding and more care now," said Francis Sullivan, Chief Executive Officer of Catholic Health Australia.
