Our Lady requests prayers to avoid world 'blood bath'
Sister Lucy, the only surviving witness to the Fatima apparitions in 1917, has reportedly told Carmelite nuns in France that she has received a communication from Our Lady requesting Carmelites to pray that the world might be spared a 'blood bath'.
According to an alert in the traditional Catholic publication The Remnant, the Mother of God requested the prayers as a special intention for the forthcoming Feast of the Holy Rosary.
It was not specified whether Our Lady's request relates to the current war against terrorism. Speculation suggesting such a link arises from the fact that the letter announcing Our Lady's communication to Sister Lucy was sent from Portugal two days after the 11 September terrorist strikes.
The Remnant describes its source as 'reliable', although it is waiting further verification of the communication to Sister Lucy.
