Kidnapped Divine Word priest released in Colombia
A Divine Word priest kidnapped by Colombian guerrillas was released unharmed, according to an announcement from his order.
Fr Pavel Sochulak, a 33-year-old missionary from Slovakia, was kidnapped on 23 September when armed men took him from a bus travelling to Bogota. The kidnappers were believed to be members of the National Arm of Liberation, one of Colombia's main guerrilla groups.
The priest was released on 27 September in the war-ravaged Antioquia province in northwestern Colombia. Fr Sochulak was handed over to two clergymen, said Fr Noel Rebancos, a member of the Divine Word provincial council in Colombia.
