Students to return to Banyo
Queensland students to the diocesan priesthood are set to return to live on the Banyo Seminary site during most of their training.
New accommodation for the seminarians will be built on the site.
Archbishop John Bathersby of Brisbane announced the plans after a meeting of the Queensland bishops in Rockhampton at the end of last month.
Australian Catholic University's MacKillop Campus will relocate from Mitchelton to Banyo in 2003.
The bishops have set up St Paul's Theological College at Banyo under the leadership of Fr Orm Rush as the major theological provider for ordinands and lay students from 2002.
These developments will make the Banyo location the major centre for Catholic tertiary and ordinand students in Queensland.
