Pope challenges Knights to defend life
Pope John Paul II has challenged the Church's largest fraternal service organisation - the Knights of Columbus - to defend life.
The Knights of Columbus, he said in a message to their 119th annual conference in Toronto, can play a significant role in "shaping a future of hope and promise for coming generations" by standing united against the secular culture's attempts to reject or ridicule "religious belief and fundamental norms of moral law."
"It is my hope that, as the evil fruits of the culture of death become more and more apparent, the Order will continue to makes its voice heard," the Pope wrote.
