Canada overturns ban on Mother Angelica
After years of fighting with federal regulators, the Eternal Word Television Network (EWTN) has received approval to be broadcast in Canada.
The Canada Radio-Television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) had previously rejected requests for the station to be broadcast in Canada because of a policy of not allowing "single-faith" programming.
CRTC spokesman Denis Carmel said the decision changed because there is now a wide variety of choice.
However Canadians' access to EWTN depends upon its acceptance by cable companies as a commercially viable proposition.
The CRTN decision is available on its website.
