Historic meeting for Anglican and Catholic Clergy in NSW
100 Anglican and Roman Catholic clergy are meeting today in Toronto in the NSW diocese of Maitland-Newcastle.
Brisbane's Archbishop John Bathersby is speaking on the urgency of ecumenism and the relationship between the Anglican and Roman Catholic churches.
One of the conference organisers, Canon Keith Dean-Jones, said the one-day conference is being held to further the relationships between the two Churches.
The decision to stage a joint clergy conference follows the historic meeting of Anglican and Catholic Bishops in Toronto, Canada, last year. The Australian representatives at that meeting were Archbishop John Bathersby and Perth's Anglican Archbishop Peter Carnley, the Primate of the Anglican Communion in Australia.
