Bush to visit Pope
US President George W. Bush will make another trip to Europe in July and will include a stop in Rome to meet with Pope John Paul II, according to a White House statement released on Friday while Bush was visiting Poland.
On that trip, the president will also attend the G-7/8 summit of the world's seven largest industrial countries plus Russia in Genoa, Italy. While in Italy, Bush will visit Rome to meet Italian President Carlo Azeglio Ciampi and new Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, White House spokesman Ari Fleischer said. Bush would also have an audience with the Pope at the Holy Father's summer residence at Castelgandolfo.
