Bishops preparing statement on pastoral care of migrants and refugees
The Australian Catholic Bishops' Conference is preparing a statement on the pastoral care of migrants and refugees.
Conference President Archbishop Francis Carroll will launch the statement in Canberra early next month.
Australian Catholic Migrant and Refugee Office says the statement will set out principles motivating the Church's response to the arrival and presence in Australia of many migrants and refugees.
The statement will address the history of migration in the Australian context, principles for Pastoral Care from the Scriptures and Church documents, as well as the responsibilities of the faithful and proposals for pastoral care.
