Bishops appoint Executive Officer for the Commission for Australian Catholic Women

The Chairman for the Bishops' Committee for the Laity, Bishop Peter Connors, has announced the Bishops' Conference has approved the appointment of Mrs Therese Vassarotti to the position of Executive Officer of the Commission for Australian Catholic Women for a term of three years.

Bishop Connors made the announcement in his role as Chairman for the Committee for the Laity which is responsible for overseeing the work of the Commission. Bishop Connors also holds a seat on the Commission as a representative of the Bishops' Conference.

Mrs Therese Vassarotti is currently employed as the Director of Religious Education at St. Edmund's College in Canberra. She is a former National Communications Officer for the Catholic Women's League of Australia and has many years experience in Catholic education and as an adult educator.

"We believe that Mrs Vassarotti has the energy, the faith and the experience that will serve the Commission well," said Bishop Connors. "We look forward to assisting her in taking up the challenge that lies ahead."

The Secretariat of the Commission for Australian Catholic Women will be situated within the General Secretariat Office located in the Canberra suburb of Braddon. It is expected that Mrs Vassarotti will take up the position in July.
