Archbishop Clancy spends Easter in hospital
Retiring Sydney Archbishop, Cardinal Edward Clancy, spent the Easter weekend in hospital recovering from surgery.
AAP reports that he remains in St Vincent's Private Hospital convalescing after surgery which repaired adhesions from an old appendix operation.
A spokesman for St Mary's Cathedral said Cardinal Clancy was "resting well and recuperating fast".
"He's just itching to get back here," the spokesman said.
Cardinal Clancy missed his last major meeting with the cathedral's priests ahead of the change of guard.
Melbourne archbishop, Dr George Pell, will be installed as Sydney's Archbishop, replacing Cardinal Clancy on 10 May.
