Search for chief executive advances Bishops' Women's Commission
The Australian Catholic Bishops' Conference is moving into the next phase for the Commission for Australian Catholic Women as it launches its search for the Commission's Executive Officer.
The establishment of a Commission for Australian Catholic Women was one of the key recommendations endorsed by the Bishops' Conference as a result of the Report, Woman and Man: One in Christ Jesus.
"We are confident of finding the right person to assist the Commission in pursuing the initiatives which were established by the Bishops in their response to the original Woman & Man report," said Chair of the Commission for Australian Catholic Women, Mrs Geraldine Hawkes. "The Commission had an invigorating and energetic inaugural meeting earlier this year but we really need the skills of an executive officer to carry the work of the Commission forward."
"We are looking for an individual with excellent strategic and facilitation skills, a good working knowledge of the foundational research project, Woman and Man: One in Christ Jesus and the subsequent initiatives outlined by the Bishops in the Social Justice Statement, 2000," said Mrs Hawkes. "A strong knowledge and understanding of the teachings of the Church are important values the individual should have, and although desirable, it is not essential they have a qualification in theology."
