Sydney Cardinal honours Cathedral's restoration heroes
Church honours have been given to the three officials most closely associated with the recent restoration and completion of Sydney's St Mary's Cathedral.
The Catholic Leader reports that current cathedral Dean Fr Tony Doherty and his predecessor Fr Vince Redden have been given the title of monsignor for their contributions to the work.
The work was completed last year with the placement of two gothic spires, part of the original design.
The Cardinal also honoured John Ferris for his long years of service to the cathedral. Mr Ferris was awarded the papal honour of Knight Commander of the Order of St Gregory.
