Task force to assist merged parishes
Archbishop John Bathersby of Brisbane has announced plans to establish an Evangelisation Task Force, The Catholic Leader reports.
He said the task force would be made up of informed and trained people who would assist parishes in a variety of ways.
A spokesman for the archbishop, Fr Peter Dillon, said a special role would be to help newly combined parishes which are sharing a priest to adjust to the necessaary changes involved.
"They will assist with all aspects of pastoral life, including an evangelising role," he said.
Parishioners will also be encouraged to take up parish activities that may have once been the responsibility of the priest.
