Pope urges more faith formation in Catholic universities
Pope John Paul II has emphasised that the "primary" task of ecclesiastical universities is to "know and make known the authentic image of God".
He was preaching to staff from Catholic Universities in St Peter's Basilica on Friday afternoon on the occasion of the inauguration of the academic year.
"We want of offer everything to God and direct it to His glory: teaching, study, university life, the time of work and the time of distraction. And even first personal life, prayer, ascetics, friendship".
"This afternoon we want to place all of our self and our activities over the Lord's altar" the Pope stressed, "to offer it as spiritual sacrifice".
