Spain    CATHOLIC TELEVISION CHANNEL OPENS IN MADRID
The Archdiocese of Madrid has inaugurated
TMT Television, one of a growing number of Church-run television stations in Catholic countries.
The station's Director, Fr Juan Pedro Ortuno, said, "It is a new program offer that gives a Christian view of life, with absolute respect for other broadcasting stations, in an effort to make the splendor of truth shine."
Other Catholic TV channels established in Europe in recent years include Italy's Sat2000, and KTO, the station of the Archdiocese of Paris.
Several participants in the 1999 synod of European bishops sought a coordinated effort in the production of television programs.
