Israel    CONFLICT HALTS HOLY YEAR PILGRIMAGES
The current hostilities in the Holy Land are causing Catholic pilgrims to interrupt or cancel their Holy Year pilgrimages.
    The last charter flight of Italian pilgrims out of Israel left Tel Aviv airportOn Friday morning. All pilgrimages have been cancelled until there is a likelihood of peace.
    Many Jewish, Muslim and Christian resident are staying away from work.
    On Thursday, Christians met at St Stephen's Church to pray for peace in the Holy Land.
    "The situation in the Holy Land, in Jerusalem is a mystery" said Fr Frederic Manns, director of the Franciscan Bible Centre in Jerusalem. "There have never been so many pilgrims from all over the world as in this Jubilee year."
