Cardinal says Church takes money, no questions asked
Manila's Cardinal Jaime Sin has admitted that the Church in the Philippines accepts donations from criminals.
He said the church does not usually ask how people came by the cash they donate. He added: "We only make sure that all donations go to the poor."
He said thieves often give priests stolen money because they can't return it to its rightful owners and donating it to the church is a kind of penance, The Manila Times reports.
He said: "It is in this spirit that we accept donations from everybody without questions."
