|MARY McKILLOP HITS SYDNEY HARBOUR|
'Mary McKillop', the latest addition to Sydney Harbour's fleet of JetCats, carried its first paying passengers on the Harbour yesterday.|
The vessel was named at a recent ceremony held at the city's Garden Island, by Sisters of St Joseph congregational leader Sr Giovanni Farquer.
Launching the Mary McKillop, Sr Giovanni paid tribute to Blessed Mary McKillop's fearlessness in working with the downtrodden, regardless of their religion.
She suggested Sr MacKillop was no stranger to Sydney's wharves, undertaking much of her work at The Rocks.
Members of the order - founded by Mary McKillop - were also present for the launch, together with NSW Transport Minister Carl Scully. Mr Scully called the naming an "appropriate tribute to a great Australian".
