Germany    VATICAN OFFICIAL SAYS ISPs MUST CENSOR WEB CONTENT
Fr Patrick Casserly of the Pontifical Council for Social Communications has said that Internet service providers are morally obliged to censor websites containing pornography or hate sentiments.
Fr Casserly was one of about 50 Church and religious representatives participating last week in a workshop on Internet filtering systems in Gutersloh, Germany.
Emphasising the need for all communication professionals to establish an ethical code of conduct, Fr Casserly praised the host of the Gutersloh meeting, the Bertelsmann Foundation, and the nonprofit Internet Content Rating Association for trying to develop a voluntary Internet filtering system in collaboration with Microsoft, Novell, America Online and several Internet watchdog organisations.
