|Timor||BISHOPS CONDEMN WEST TIMOR KILLINGS|
Catholic Church leaders of Indonesia's Atambua diocese and East Timor's Dili diocese have condemned the recent killings in west Timor saying the acts were contemptible. |
Bishop Anton Pain Ratu of Atambua said that the killing of an East Timorese pro-Jakarta militia leader last Tuesday in southern Belu, and the killing of three United Nations humanitarian workers in Atambua, Belu district town capital, shocked people.
Bishop Carlos Filipe Ximenes Belo of Dili told UCA News that all religions will condemn such killings and condemn those who arbitrarily finish off the life of fellow human beings.
In a meeting with military, police and government officials, Bishop Pain Ratu asked for the immediate restoration of peace and order in Atambua.
