Vatican     LEFEBRIVISTS MARCH ON ST. PETER'S
About 6000 followers of the excommunicated and now-deceased Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre entered St Peter's Basilica on Tuesday as part of a Jubilee Year observance.
The members of the Society of St Pius X, led by three priests who had been illegally ordained by Lefebvre --which precipitated Lefebvre's excommunication in 1988, entered the basilica and prayed before the altar before leaving peacefully.
The group said they had permission from the Vatican to make the pilgrimage.
The schismatic group contends many reforms made in the Church following the Second Vatican Council were invalid. They claim about 100,000 followers worldwide.
